Our Mission
Compassion in action
Purrever Friends Rescue is a non-profit cat Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) organization dedicated to improving the lives of feral and stray cats in our community. Our mission is to humanely reduce the overpopulation of feral cats through TNR, providing them with medical care, shelter, and finding loving forever homes for socialized cats. We are committed to educating the public about the importance of TNR and responsible cat ownership, as well as advocating for the well-being of all cats.

Angie rescues cats in honor of her first furbaby, Dusti. She became involved with the animal rescue community more than a decade ago while covering rescues for The Greenville News. She is also a USA Today bestselling author.

Cindy has never owned a cat in her life—she's a dog person. But when she found a kitten in need, she didn't hesitate to help, and years later, she continues helping cats with a focus on TNR.

Andres loves cats and wants to help as many strays live a better life as possible. Although he's new to TNR, he's eager to make a difference. He has three cats of his own. Go Yankees!

Our Legacy
Caring for Cats Since 2017
01
Driven by Compassion
Purrever Friends Rescue might be a new organization, but its founders have been dedicated to the welfare of cats in our community for over a decade. Our organization was founded on the principles of compassion, empathy, and a strong belief in the value of every cat's life.
02
Creating Safe Havens
We have been instrumental in creating safe havens for feral and stray cats, providing them with food, shelter, and medical attention. Our efforts have helped improve the quality of life for countless cats in need.
03
Building a Better Future
Adoption is important, but the homeless cat problem will only be resolved through TNR. That's why we are working with local governments and schools to educate as many people about its value, in the hopes more cats will be saved from a life on the streets.
Our
Story

Founded in honor of Celia Mae
Rescued from the streets as a kitten, Celia Mae (originally named Little Black) should have been socialized and placed in a loving home as soon as possible, but even black kittens have difficulty being adopted out. When she contracted an upper respiratory infection, Celia Mae’s original rescuer refused to get her treatment, allowing the condition to escalate and affect her eyes. Tragically, one of Celia Mae's eyes ruptured, necessitating surgery for removal. However, the situation only worsened when her caregiver neglected to have her stitches removed promptly, resulting in ANOTHER infection. After discovering this unnecessary suffering, Angie and Cindy intervened, seizing Celia Mae and ensuring she received the proper care, including three additional surgeries to correct complications and close the wound. Even though she lost an eye and endured numerous surgeries, Celia Mae never lost her affectionate purr or ability to love. Her unwavering amiability and resilience showed us that, even in the face of trauma, love and kindness can heal wounds and help one overcome adversity. The impact this one-eyed black kitten had on Angie and Cindy is the top reason Purrever Friends was founded. Because of Celia Mae, we are dedicated to making sure all kittens and cats rescued by our volunteers receive the care they need, when they need it. Because of Celia Mae, we know there is a friend for every cat we rescue. Despite her missing eye, Celia Mae found a loving home where she is spoiled and cared for, which is why we have incorporated adoptions into our mission. We’re also happy to report she’s happy, healthy, and still purring away!
